Accessibility statement

Our commitment

At Picarus Sailing Club we want everyone to be able to learn about our sailing excursions and to book them, regardless of their abilities or the technology they use.

We work continuously to make this website perceivable, operable, understandable and robust, following the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. Our conformance target is level AAA, the most demanding level of the standard.

Conformance status

This website is conformant with WCAG 2.2 at level AAA, with a statement of partial conformance due to third-party content (following the W3C model) for the external components detailed below.

Among other aspects: all text reaches a minimum contrast ratio of 7:1 (criterion 1.4.6), touch targets measure at least 44×44 pixels (2.5.5), links that open a new window announce it (3.2.5), forms identify and describe errors in the language of the page (3.3.1 and 3.3.3), reading-text line length is limited to about 70-80 characters (1.4.8), the whole site can be used with a keyboard with an always-visible focus indicator, and a plain-language glossary explains the nautical and marine terms (3.1.3), complemented by simple summaries on the main pages (3.1.5).

Conformance is declared for all pages of the site in Spanish, English and French.

1.2.9 Audio-only (Live) The site has no live audio broadcasts.
2.2.5 Re-authenticating Browsing does not require authenticated sessions that could expire.

Known limitations

The following content falls outside our full conformance, with the reason and the available alternative:

Third-party content: bookings (Turitop), reviews (Trustindex), sightings (GeoReport) and video (YouTube)

The inside of these components is generated by external services and is outside our control (W3C statement of partial conformance due to third-party content). We add an accessible title to the calendar frames and wrap them in labelled regions, but their inner content may not meet every criterion. The essential information is always available as text on the page itself, and you can also book by phone or email (details below).

Legal texts

The legal documents (legal notice, privacy, quality policy) are legal texts from the original site: their reading level exceeds lower secondary education (criterion 3.1.5) and the English and French versions are shown in Spanish (correctly marked for screen readers, criterion 3.1.2). If you need a plain-language explanation or another language, we will provide it by phone or email.

PDF documents

Some downloadable documents (for example, the cookie policy) come from the previous site and may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We can provide their content in an accessible format on request.

How we assess accessibility

Self-assessment (22 July 2026) triangulated with three methods: automated analysis with axe-core 4.10 with the AAA rules enabled and Lighthouse over a sample of the 15 page templates; automated sweeps of all pages (link purpose, heading hierarchy, language of parts, new-window warnings, line length); and manual review of keyboard navigation, visible focus, touch targets at 390 pixels and use at 200 % zoom.

Colour contrast is verified with the official WCAG formula over the style-guide colours (no text falls below 7:1) and the reading level is measured with the Szigriszt-Pazos readability index (INFLESZ scale), supporting the texts with clear summaries and the glossary.

Accessibility is an ongoing process: every design change is checked against level AAA before being published.

Reporting accessibility barriers

If you come across any obstacle while using this site, or you need content in an alternative format, let us know and we will resolve it as soon as possible:

We aim to respond within a maximum of 5 working days. Your feedback helps us improve for everyone.

Compatibility

This site is designed to work with recent versions of the most common browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge) and is compatible with widely used screen readers.

The content adapts to mobile, tablet and desktop, can be zoomed to at least 200 % without loss of information or horizontal scrolling, and honours the system reduced-motion preference.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 15 June 2026 and last reviewed on 8 August 2026, based on a self-assessment carried out by the development team after the 360° audit (SEO, GEO and accessibility) with axe-core verification. It will be reviewed periodically as the site evolves.
