What a Bavaria 46 Cruiser is
The Bavaria 46 Cruiser is a cruising sailboat model. It is built by Bavaria Yachts, a German shipyard with a long track record. The word “cruiser” means it is designed to sail comfortably for hours or days, not just to race.
It is a roomy, well-equipped boat. She has a length overall of 14.40 metres and four double cabins inside. She is ready for ocean sailing, that is, to move with ease in the open sea and in different conditions.
What she is like on board
Our two sailboats, Aemón and Ayla, are of this model. On deck they have a sun deck to soak up the sun and a shaded area to rest from the heat. Each person chooses where to spend the time as they please.
We make the most of that space with small groups: a maximum of nine passengers per outing. We do not fill the boat. This way there is room to spare, you can move about and the day is lived without crowding. We leave from the marina of Los Gigantes, in the south-west of Tenerife.
The sea is not a stage. We do not sell an excursion, we share an experience. A comfortable, roomy sailboat helps the outing stay peaceful, and her readiness for the open sea gives safety and steadiness throughout the whole passage.
A detail to remember
That a boat is ready for ocean sailing says a great deal about her soundness. She is not a model designed only to potter about near the harbour: she stands up well to the real sea. You notice it in a firm, predictable movement.
If you want to remember the essentials of Aemón and Ayla, keep this: they are Bavaria 46 Cruisers, German, 14.40 metres, with four cabins and space for shade and sun. Two roomy, sturdy sailboats to sail slowly through the Teno-Rasca Marine Strip, always with small groups.
